The Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey called on the government to make the health service "winterproof" in a speech at the party’s annual conference in Brighton.
After an election which saw the Lib Dems sweep away the Conservatives in many Blue Wall southern seats, Mr Davey reserved his best verbal attacks for them – rather than the Labour Government.
