‘My skin was melting’- Portugal wildfire survivor

In the summer of 2025, Diogo Cecilio was caught in a wildfire in his home city of Guarda, in Portugal.

He managed to survive, emerging with third-degree burns all over his back and down his arms.

But his friend Carlos Damaso, mayor of the local council, died in the blaze.
