Myanmar state media footage showed buildings being demolished with explosives and excavators as soldiers raided the area.
Hundreds of foreign nationals, many believed to be trafficking victims forced into scam work, were detained and lined up on the roadside.
Officials say the scam hubs are part of wider criminal networks generating billions of dollars a year through online scams.
Some analysts dismiss the crackdown as whitewashing and say the military junta in Myanmar is responsible for facilitating the scam industry’s growth.
