Tom Bradshaw, president of the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), says the farming industry has been "betrayed" as Labour raise farmers’ inheritance tax after promising they wouldn’t.
Mr Bradshaw says there has always been "a contract" and understanding between the government and farmers, but Labour have "destroyed" that.
He says the margins from food production are thin and farmers "simply don’t have the money to pay inheritance tax".
"We would love to pay more tax" but farmers are "not making the returns they need", he adds.
