Nationwide protests expected outside asylum seeker hotels

The Home Office says it will seek an appeal against a court ruling blocking the use of an Essex hotel to house asylum seekers – while dozens of anti immigration protests are planned around the UK this weekend.

The Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said that while the Government was committed to phasing out the use of hotels, the process should be "properly managed".

Meanwhile crowds of demonstrators have been gathering outside a hotel in Cheshunt tonight.
