Nato on 'right track' on defence spending, says Jens Stoltenberg

Nato secretary general Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance was on the ‘right track’ on defence spending and investment after members of the US-led alliance were criticised by former president Donald Trump who accused them of not meeting their spending commitments. Stoltenberg said: ‘I expect 18 allies to spend 2% of the GDP on defence this year, a sixfold increase from only three allies in 2014. In 2024, Nato allies in Europe will invest a total of $380bn in defence’
