Nearly 600 referrals of online abuse towards England players since start of Euros

Police are investigating 26 complaints about social media abuse against England players – this programme can reveal, while officers have received more than 500 referrals of online abuse, since the start of the Euros.

Most of the posts include racist language or imagery – sparking fears that there could be a repeat of the abuse aimed at England players during the last tournament.
