Netanyahu approves Rafah offensive following Hamas’ ‘unrealistic’ ceasefire proposal

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has approved plans for an attack on Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city, where more than a million Palestinians are sheltering.

The announcement came after Hamas put forward its latest proposal for a ceasefire. Mr Netanyahu described their demands as “unrealistic”.
