Netanyahu vows to 'achieve all objectives' at memorial ceremony for October 7 victims

Israel will hold official state commemoration ceremonies marking the second anniversary of October 7 attacks today which saw Hamas-led gunmen kill around 1,200 people and take 251 hostages.

The date has been set to avoid the many Jewish festivals in the beginning of October, and was designated as the official day of commemoration last year.

Benjamin Netanyahu is set to attend two ceremonies in Jerusalem today – a state memorial for the soldiers at 9am UK time and a ceremony honouring the victims of Hamas’s attack at 12pm.

Many victim-led commemorations marking the second anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attacks have already taken place last week, including the largest to date at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park.
