New HIV jab to be approved by the NHS

A new jab to prevent HIV is set to be approved for NHS patients for the first time in England and Wales.

The injection, which has to be taken every two months, will be recommended for adults and young people at risk of the virus who are unable to take daily pills.

The Health Secretary Wes Streeting described it as "game changing" and another step towards the goal of eradicating new HIV cases by 2030.
