Selling wet wipes made of plastic will be banned under a new law signed today.

The new rules will come into force in spring 2027, bringing England into line with Scotland and Wales.
Water companies say the wipes don’t disintegrate when they’re flushed away, which can help to clog up sewers.
However, medical facilities and some businesses like hotels will still be able to buy plastic wipes.
