New prime minister says Canada will ‘never be part of the US’

Mark Carney said in a press conference, after being sworn in as the 24th prime minister of Canada, that the Canada and the US were ‘very fundamentally different’ countries. This comes after President Donald Trump repeatedly suggested that Canada become the 51st state of the US. Carney added that Canada ‘expects respect’ from the US and that they ‘will look for avenues to work together’
