California governor Gavin Newsom has hit out at the "pathetic" response of European leaders to Donald Trump.
He urged them to "stand strong" and "have a backbone" rather than hand out Nobel peace prizes to accommodate the US president.
The Democrat was speaking after Trump criticised UK policy on the Chagos Islands, and following his demands that Greenland give up its sovereignty to the US.
