NHS Maternity: shocking report reveals two-thirds of wards unsafe for birth in England

A shocking new report is warning that serious harm in NHS maternity care will become normalised if action isn’t taken.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission went into 131 maternity units in England. They found that two-thirds – 65% – were not safe for women to give birth in, declaring that 47% required improvement, and 18% were inadequate.
