Emma, a 42-year-old mum of two, has Motor Neurone Disease and supports the assisted dying bill. Emma has already lost use of her legs and is losing her ability to speak, and plans to end her own life this summer by refusing her medication, food and liquids. Doctors have told her that dying this way will be very difficult, but Emma believes a death from MND will be worse.
She says she’d give anything to watch her children grow up, but knows she will die from her terminal illness, so wants to take matters into her own hands. Emma says she would rather have the choice of assisted dying than face the impossible decision she has had to make.
