Journalist and historian Anne Applebaum tells Sky News that autocracies, like China and Russia, may not be able to continue in a modern world.
Despite having different ideologies, some autocratic countries have cooperated to push back against "a common enemy" of liberal societies and ideas, saying that "the enemy is us," she explains.
But Applebaum says China has benefited from opening up to a regulated world trade system and that some citizens were "disappointed" when the country cut itself off from the world in recent years.
