Northern Ireland leisure centre set on fire as violence erupts for third night | BBC News

A leisure centre was set on fire in Larne, Northern Ireland, after two nights of disorder which initially began as a peaceful protest over and alleged sexual assault in Ballymena.

The centre had been providing emergency shelter for families following the clashes earlier this week, the council said.

Masked youth attacked the leisure centre and the violence has been described as "racist thuggery targeted at ethnic minorities and police officers”, according to to Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson.
