The alleged murder of former MP Ann Widdecombe is not thought to have been politically motivated, police said on Sunday.
Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said detectives “remain open-minded about the potential motive” and stressed it is not believed there is any threat to the wider public.
"At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that it was politically motivated,” he said.
He also said police “are not looking for anyone else” after a 28-year-old man was arrested.
