The former president made the remarks at the Jefferson Educational Society, a non-profit in Erie, Pennsylvania. During his conversation with the journalist Steve Scully, he denounced political violence, and addressed the fatal attacks this year of Charlie Kirk and the Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman, calling both incidents “horrific” and “a tragedy”.
