
Oil prices have surged past $100 a barrel to their highest levels since 2022 as major producers cut supplies and fears of prolonged shipping disruptions gripped markets.
Prices had already climbed last week owing to the US and Israeli war with Iran.
The appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s supreme leader led to fears that the conflict would continue and nearly all shares on Asian and European markets dropped this morning.
