Oklahoma prisoner’s life spared moments before scheduled execution

In an extraordinary turn of events, Kevin Stitt, the state’s Republican governor, accepted the Oklahoma pardon and parole board’s recommendation that Wood’s sentence be commuted to life in prison without parole.
