On board a deportation flight for foreign criminals paid up to £2,000 to return home | ITV News

Thousands of British prison places are currently occupied by foreign nationals. They include offenders guilty of theft, sex crimes, and even murder.

For the UK government – getting them removed is a priority.

So much so, that some are being paid up to two-thousand pounds to leave. Even the Home Secretary admits that "doesn’t look good".

But she insists it is cheaper, overall, for the taxpayer.

ITV News was invited to be the first ever to film, as dozens of former prisoners made their one-way flights. Once they land in their home countries, they’re free.
