We’re out on patrol with Syrian forces as hundreds of soldiers formerly loyal to the deposed dictator Bashar al-Assad hand themselves in and sign-up to the new regime.

Syrian forces have launched a security sweep in Latakia after two of their members were killed in an attack blamed on remnants of the ousted regime.

It follows a series of hit-and-run attacks on security patrols in the coastal region, which was an Assad stronghold.
