Shadow foreign secretary, Wes Streeting MP, takes Kay through the new memoire of his life that took him from poverty to politics.
Mr Streeting says that his then 18-year-old mother was under pressure to have an abortion while expecting him, but was determined not to and to press ahead and give birth to him.
In later life he says that he was anxious about coming out at gay to his family, but that his parents were always warm and supportive on this issue.
