The tomb of ousted Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s father has been set on fire by rebel fighters.

Hafez al-Assad’s mausoleum, which was raided, is in north western Syria – in the family’s ancestral village.

Many Syrians believe this marks an end to over fifty years of oppressive rule.
