More than 25,000 migrants have arrived in the UK after crossing the Channel so far this year, Home Office figures show.
The milestone was crossed after 898 people arrived on Wednesday in 13 boats, according to the latest data.
This is the earliest point in the year at which the 25,000 mark has been passed since data on Channel crossings was first recorded in 2018. Last year, the 25,000 total was reached on 22 September.
