Four men broke into the museum’s main entrance on the night of March 22nd.

The museum said the thieves appeared "structured and organised" and it seemed like they wanted to steal more if the alarm had not gone off.

The paintings by the French artists Renoir, Cézanne and Matisse are estimated to be worth around €9 million.

It’s one of the most significant art thefts in Italy in years.
