Pakistan election: Parties locked into coalition talks after shock result

Political parties in Pakistan have been locked in coalition talks today – following an election that’s only increased instability.

Candidates backed by jailed former prime minister Imran Khan won the most seats, which was a blow to the military establishment who launched a fierce crackdown on his party ahead of the vote.

Another former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, is looking to build a governing coalition.
