Palestinian ambassador to the UK welcomes recognition of Palestine

The UK’s decision to recognise Palestinian statehood is a "step in the right direction", the Palestinian ambassador to the UK has told Sky News.

Sir Keir Starmer said he hoped the move would lead to a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Israel described the decision as "absurd". 

The announcement comes ahead of this week’s United Nations summit, where more countries are expected to follow suit.
