Palestinians displaced from Rafah return as Gaza ceasefire takes hold

Palestinians displaced from their homes in Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city, started to make their way back as a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect. The much-anticipated deal came into force at 11.15am local time, with Israeli forces pulling out of urban areas it had occupied. Elated Palestinians returned to the streets now filled with rubble from months of Israeli strikes. People expressed their hope for a lasting truce and a chance to rebuild
