Shopkeepers are boarding up their livelihoods as France prepares for a fresh wave of nationwide protests, following the violent scenes which were seen on the weekend of October 17.
Planned protests are expected on October 24 and the military and police will be deployed in Paris, while protests have been banned altogether in Marseille and Lyon.
The wave of demonstrations began in September, with demands from high school students for a fairer education system and better funding.
President Emmanuel Macron will meet with students on October 24, for the first time since the protests began.
