Parts of Lake District hit by heavy snow

Cumbria police declared a major weather incident and warned people not to travel after heavy snow hit the Lake District on Saturday, leaving thousands of homes and businesses without power and hundreds of motorists stranded. Footage circulated on social media showed rows of cars stuck in the snow as Cumbria police said a multi agency response was on-going to rescue people trapped in the snow
