Most household bills are increasing from today with the price hikes expected to be more than any increase in income for millions of people.
Sky News spoke to Alfie Stirling from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and financial expert Georgia Taylor, who offered advice for those feeling the pinch from the rise in the cost of living.
"People are going to have to get to know their finances" Georgia advised and suggested the 50-30-20 rule for dividing up income may be helpful. She went on to explain: "that’s 50% on needs, 30% on wants and 20% into savings."
