President Donald Trump has reiterated that the US "needs Greenland from the standpoint of national security" following strikes on Venezuela and the capture of its deposed leader, Nicolas Maduro.
“We need Greenland… It’s so strategic right now. Greenland is covered with Russian and Chinese ships all over the place,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Trump has repeatedly said the United States needs to take control of Greenland since taking office in 2025, including in the lead-up to a controversial visit to the island by US Vice President JD Vance in March last year.
