An Egyptian man has been jailed for 25 years for conspiring to assist unlawful immigration.

Ahmed Ebid helped nearly 4,000 migrants cross the Mediterranean from Africa to Italy, in an operation worth £12 million, run from Isleworth in south-west London.
The judge said he had "ruthlessly and cynically" exploited desperate people, with the National Crime Agency saying that he had told his associates to murder and throw overboard any migrants caught with phones on the journey.
