The Green Party has won the Gorton and Denton by-election in a landmark result.

The party’s first-ever victory in a Westminster by-election saw Labour lose control of the Manchester constituency.
Speaking to Channel 4 News after her victory, local plumber Hannah Spencer said that working in the trades had given her “all the skills and resilience to do any job, especially one in politics” as she overturned a majority of more than 4,000 votes.
Reform UK’s Matt Goodwin came second with 10,578, while Labour’s Angeliki Stogia was third with 9,364.
