The PKK is disbanding after 40 years of bloody conflict with Turkey.

The militant group, also known as the Kurdistan Workers’ party, led an armed insurgency targeting Turkish military infrastructure.

It’s stated aim was to achieve greater recognition and independence for Kurdish communities in Turkey.
