Shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick says illegal migration is "out of control" and blamed the prime minister for scrapping the Conservatives’ Rwanda policy.
It comes as Sir Keir Starmer hosts a border security summit in London, with more than 40 countries meeting to discuss how to tackle people smuggling.
Mr Jenrick said a strong deterrent was needed, adding: "It’s open season. I suspect this summer is going to be an absolute disaster in which thousands of people are going to break into our country, and it’s all going to be the fault of Keir Starmer."
