Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has urged striking doctors not to "abandon patients" as he branded the five-day walkout "dangerous" and "utterly irresponsible".

Resident doctors, formerly known as junior doctors, have begun days of industrial action in England in an ongoing row over jobs and pay, at a time when hospitals are facing record flu cases.
