Sir Keir Starmer has told Labour MPs he has "won every fight I’ve ever been in" as he faces increasing pressure to stand down in the wake of the Peter Mandelson scandal.
Sky’s Jon Craig said Starmer fielded 44 questions, with the PM telling the meeting he was "not prepared to walk away".
The crisis was triggered by revelations of Peter Mandelson’s association with Jeffrey Epstein – and how much Sir Keir knew when he appointed him UK ambassador to the US.
The cabinet rallied round the prime minister after Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar called for him to go.
And Health Secretary Wes Streeting told Sky News he was "embarrassed" to have known Mandelson.
