Dutch, Italian and Polish aircraft shot down four of 19 Russian drones as citizens were told to stay at home and Poland closed all its airports.

Poland is protected under NATO’s Article 5 – which states that a military attack on one member is deemed an attack on them all. Sir Keir Starmer condemned Russia’s actions as "extremely reckless".

The Kremlin has refused to comment – although a Russian diplomat earlier rejected claims of drones in Polish airspace.
