Poland’s new right-wing president

Right-wing nationalist Karol Nawrocki has narrowly won Poland’s presidential election after a bitter campaign.

Like the current president, he plans to use his veto to stop Donald Tusk’s centrist government delivering key campaign promises.

An initial exit poll put the pro-European candidate Rafal Trzaskowski in the lead last night, but he congratulated his rival this morning.
