Police and protesters exchange teargas and fireworks in demonstrations across France

Hundreds of thousands marched in cities across France on Saturday amid fresh demonstrations over school funding and the cost of living. A peaceful protest during the day in Paris – with at least 110,000 people marching along the eastern edge of the city – descended into violent clashes with police by the time night fell.
