Police revealed that they believed the perpetrator Jihad Al-Shamie, may have been influenced by "extreme Islamist ideology". Detectives have also made a further three arrests, with six people now in custody.

But tonight, there are empty chairs at the tables of two Manchester families: the victims of yesterday’s attack. Tributes have been paid to Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby, as it emerged the latter died having been accidentally shot by armed police.
Greater Manchester’s chief constable called it "tragic and unforeseen". Mr Daulby had been bravely trying to stop the killer from reaching fellow worshippers. "His final act", said his family, "was one of profound courage".
