New guidance recommends disclosing ethnicity and nationality when a suspect is charged in a high profile or sensitive case.

It follows accusations of a cover-up after asylum seekers were accused of committing offences in Epping last month, as well as last summer’s riots which followed disinformation about the Southport murders.
