Polls set to close in France’s general election

Now polls close within the next hour in France’s general election – and there’s so far been a record turnout – the highest for almost 40 years.

The snap election was called just three weeks ago by President Macron – throwing the entire country into political turmoil. And it could hand a parliamentary majority to the far right.
