After five weeks in hospital with pneumonia, the Pope will be discharged from hospital today to prepare for two months of rest at the Vatican.
Before he begins his recovery, he offers a blessing from the window of his hospital room.
"Thank you," he says first, in particular addressing a woman with yellow flowers in the crowd.
He waves, and appears to make the sign of the cross to the crowd before he is taken back into the room.
