Postmistress wrongly convicted of theft is the first to have her case referred to Court of Appeal

A postmistress who was wrongly convicted of theft on a faulty IT system which pre-dates the Horizon scandal, is the first to have her case referred to the Court of Appeal.

Patricia Owen died in 2003, long before details of the Post Office’s failures came to light.
She was falsely accused in 1998 after the Capture IT system wrongly indicated a shortfall of 6 thousand pounds.

Her family say it destroyed her and now hope they – and others like her – will finally see justice.
