Putin open to direct peace talks with Ukraine

Despite there being more strikes on Ukraine overnight, Vladimir Putin has said for the first time since the beginning of the war that he could take part in direct peace talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Russian president also admitted that his forces had targeted non-military buildings when 35 people were killed in the Ukrainian city of Sumy nine days ago.
