Putin proposes to ‘resume direct talks’ with Ukraine to end war

Vladimir Putin has proposed to "resume direct talks" with Ukraine to establish "peace" – but the talks must "eliminate the root causes of the conflict".

It comes as Ukraine’s allies, UK, France and Germany, call on President Putin to commit to a 30-day ceasefire.
